It was nice to hear the church bell chiming when we were eating breakfast this morning. Tom rode 20 miles on the Canadian trail which is designed for snow mobiles, horses and cross country skiing. He was, of course, riding his road bike so the riding surface left something to be desired. He enjoyed seeing a beaver pond, fields of green beans, and beautiful woods and farmland, while I was a couch potato working on the boat. The pier we were tied two was enormous, maybe 50 feet wide, and a city gathering place. We were just a little way past the local marina which was filled with sailboats at rest with their sails furled.
As we left Penetanguishene, we passed by the old Navy yard with two sailing frigates docked in front. We took just a short cruise out to the years ago where you can see the slide marks carved in the stone. The stone landings are
surrounded by to cream colored sandy beaches. There are wide marsh grass ponds nestled into the rock. After eating lunch in the bright sunshine, I went out for a swim off the rocks -just as the rain came.
The rain continued all afternoon, but we did get a pink sunset. Tonight we are running the generator to watch the Olympics. Congratulations to Michael Phelps on his 7th Gold Medal.
