After spending the night docked at the Out Back Crabshack, we cast off in the dinghy to explore farther up Six Mile Creek. We passed under a low fixed bridge to where the dark water was enclosed by dense woods on the shore on both sides. It was secluded and beautiful as the still water acted as a mirror the soft greens of the forest. Trees leaning over the water rose from an exact image of greens, grey and brown.

The day included a trip back up St. Johns River with calm glossy water. The shore was dotted with small riverfront homes and we saw the Jacksonville Naval Airstation with small planes parked on the tarmac.

When we reached Black Creek, we turned in to find a place to spend the night. Black
Creek was a skiers dream and we moved up stream to behind a small island where we anchored out and watched the sun set behind the tree line.
